Modern Boylover Magazine is looking for volunteers! For the past 2 years, MBM has continued to publish new issues, thanks to the hard work of boylovers like you!
As you probably know, great members come and go in the BL community, for many different reasons. This is why it is crucial to always have new members involved to keep things moving forward.

During the magazine's beginnings, there were basically 2 positions. The Organizer was the Forum Rep, the Chief Editor....he did it all. Then the Magazine Layout man, he was in charge of putting together the PDF and finding suitable, available images & graphics. Anything website or hosting related, was controlled by BLN admin.

These days, there is a lot more to MBM than meets the eye. Not only do we require magazine staff, including Organizers, Forum Reps, Editors, Layout manager etc, but we also have our own website/hosting, and forums to run. While we are generally not very busy, it seems that more help is always needed.

So, we are currently accepting applications for all positions available. Even if we have someone in place, it is always good to have someone on standby who can take over, should the need arise! Don't be shy if you don't have a lot of experience or credentials, sometimes the best members are those who haven't been discovered yet.

The positions available include:

Forum Representatives (in charge of keeping members of their forum up-to-date about submission drives, contests, and issue releases, etc.)
Editors (in charge of reading articles and making/suggesting edits for Chief Editor.)
Copy Editor (in charge of proofreading final drafts and/or final PDF.)
Registration Admin (approving new members, removing spam accounts, etc.)
Magazine Organizers (In charge of organizing staff and content for an issue, from start to final publishing & advertising.)
Magazine Layout Admin (in charge of creating the PDF and any related issues; finding additional staff/help, etc. )
Chief Editor (in charge of hiring and training Editing staff, approving final drafts.)
Director (in charge of making admin-side decisions, running website and/or forums, filling various duties if other staff are not available.)

Please tell us any info you think may help us in making a decision. What boards are you a member of? (no names needed unless you want to share specific work you've done there), any projects you've done on or off of the forums, including games or contests? Staff experience, PhotoShop, InDesign experience....anything that may help.

I am pleased to announce the release of Modern Boylover Magazine, Issue #11 - our 5th Anniversary special edition! In celebration of this, each BL board involved in making MBM what it is today has its own unique front cover! Thanks to everyone involved in making it happen!

Antes que nada ofrezco una disculpa por la tardanza en la edición de este, el tercer número de la revista online BL hispana; sin embargo preferimos tomarnos el tiempo necesario que ofrecer un producto burdo a la comunidad.

Este número representa la evolución de nuestra revista, anteriormente llamada Barrilete, se han agregado nuevos tipos de contenidos y hemos tratado de disminuir el estilo “barroco” que algunos comentaron del número anterior; a la vez hemos realizado un sincero homenaje al más grande poeta BL: Aireluz, quien hace más de cinco años tuvo la idea de crear una revista de contenidos BL en español; a manera de homenaje tomamos el nombre de ese proyecto y se lo hemos dado a la revista que esta ahora disponible.

Y no quedando más que invitarlos a que colaboren con nosotros en nuestro cuarto número, me despido agradeciendo como siempre el apoyo a la revista, gracias.

Without these guys, Modern Boylover Magazine and this website would not exist! Or it would not have become the great publication that it is today!

The job can probably be broken down into 4 steps;

[*]Making MBM related announcements on their board, include magazine releases. [/list]
There are a few images you can use if you like (but are not required to do so), and I can also provide a link to the MBM logo if anyone wants it.

[b]Topic Posting[/b]
WFU topics have generally been posted in the General Chat forum, and in the creative writing/arts room. This is to help keep the balance of non-fiction and fiction material. This topic should be made sticky, at least during the final month.

[b]Member Contact[/b]
This is an aspect of the job that SimbaLion showed in #3 (our largest issue) and most recently in issue #9.
When reading some earlier issues, you can see the member mentioning "when SimbaLion asked me to write something", "Simba suggested I put together an article....". The end result is more articles, and sometimes some really great work! I myself only started doing this at the start of issue #8. Sadly much was lost including contacts when BLN was shut down.

This is not so much a requirement, but a way to possibly get more content out of your membership. :)
Some tips;
[list][*][b]Find a member's passion, ask him to write about it.[/b] An example of this is the 'Wild Things' article in #9. Simba saw how much wild_max loved the boy from Where the Wild Things Are, so he suggested that he should write an article. [*][b]Frequent Posters[/b] If you see a member who is always posting funny topics or jokes, suggest he do something for the humor category. If someone is always posting polls, see if he could do a BL stats article or something. [*][b]Serious Posters[/b] The guys who have strong points of view, or different points of view. [/list]

[b]Other Topics & Projects[/b]
It can be difficult to generate interest in the magazine. Sometimes you can post the WFU topics and it just seems dead. You might be thinking [i]Why isn't anyone posting anything yet? Am I doing something wrong?[/i] The truth of it is, most work is posted by members very close to the deadline. Sometimes you will have someone post something right away, but for the most part it's a waiting game.

Sometimes you can try posting random or creative topics to get people talking and thinking. [i]Have you ever thought or writing for MBM?[/i] or [i]What's you favorite MBM aritcle?[/i] are a couple ideas. If you can get members talking, you can ask if they might be interested themselves.

I did a few 'Top Tens' in past issues, which were basically an excuse to involve a number of members who otherwise might not contribute. I had members post a statement and then those were voted on, creating the results you see.

You may be able to think of similar ideas where you can quote various members or involve them in some way. :shrug:

I hope this has helped and doesn't just sound complicated. Your main task is 4 steps listed at the start of this topic. It's up to you how far you take the rest! :)

New Room & Changes

We now have a new room, The Entry, for new member introductions & welcomes.

There have also been some slight changes in the forum structure. The Help & Suggestions room was lost in the process, and has been recreated in the Member Forums area. I apologize for any problems this may have caused.

For those who posted in any rooms that were removed, your post count may be changed as a result. If you wish, we can return your post count to whatever it was before these changes occurred.

Why isn't the release of this issue being advertised or announced on any of the boards? I'm on both YoungCity and BLO and haven't seen a notification. Wouldn't this be a good idea to do, or is it not allowed for some reason?

We have added a new category: International Boylove Day, and we have made changes that we hope will cater to the entire BL community.

We have also deactivated IP address logging. Due to the nature of our website and in the best interest of our members, we felt that IP logging is not needed at this time. Is there is any change regarding this, a post will be made in this room.
